LEGEND OAKS GOLF AND TENNIS
WOMEN’S AND MEN’S SINGLES TENNIS CHALLENGE LADDER RULES
All LO members, age 19 and older, are eligible to compete on the tennis ladder. Initially, all players will be ranked and placed on the ladder by a random drawing.
New members will be added to the ladder and initially ranked by Andy. As people are added to or dropped off the ladder, an individual’s position on the ladder may change unrelated to challenge match results.
The ladder is frozen on Sunday nights so that the next round of challenges can be made. All challenges are made on Mondays. The current challenge ladders and challenge match periods are posted Sunday nights at www.legendoaksgolf.com.
Each person may challenge up to two spots above on the ladder, i.e., #9 may challenge #8 or #7.
Each person must play one (1) match per two week match period. A match period  consists of Monday through the 2nd Sunday.
Each person may refuse up to 2 challenges in a row. At the third refusal, that person’s spot will be taken by the challenger. This is intended to allow for people traveling but also to keep the ladder moving. Each challenger must offer at least two different dates and times for the match and reserve the courts. Each challenge must be via email and copied to Andy at asteingold@legendoaksgolf.com
Each player brings a new can of balls to the match. The winner gets the unopened can of USTA regulation hard court balls, the loser receives the used can.
Once a match and a match time is agreed upon, a player arriving more than 15 minutes late to the match is considered in default unless there is a prior agreement between the players.
Matches will consist of best two (2) out of three (3) sets (tiebreakers at 6-all). A “senior” (50+) player under USTA rules may request to play a twelve (12) game pro set instead of best two out of three sets at the time the challenge is made.
The winner reports the scores the same day the match is played via email to Andy at asteingold@legendoaksgolf.com , copying his/her opponent, and will be assigned the higher ladder position of the two players.
